Grenadines cruise with London Family

My cruise in the Grenadines by Floriane 11 years old

First day:

After 8 hours flight, we arrived! A van came to take us and brought us to the catamaran. It is called the "Cigar Runner" and the captain's name is François, the organiser is called Roland and the hostess...Floriane! Like me! Not very helpful! Then we went to St Anne for the night. For dinner, we had lasagnes. I‘d never tasted before and I found it delicious!

Second day:

We left this morning for St Lucia. We've had a long crossing. We've tried to play "les Petits Chevaux" but we rapidly had to stop because we were getting seasick. At some point, François nearly caught a tuna but the reel broke off. After that, we bathed in Anse-Cochon and got back on the boat to Anse Petit-Piton. At night, we fished. I don't know if fishes have a suicidal instinct, but the string barely stayed in the water for more than 4 minutes when at least 4 fishes would make a catch! For dinner, we had grilled beef ribs with chips. It was tasty!

Third day:

We woke up, we had a good breakfast and we left for St Vincent. François nearly caught a blue Marlin (swordfish specie) of 2m50 long and weighing 50 kg. It was impressive but unfortunately it drop off. Then we went to Walilabou Bay. It's where a part of Pirates of the Caribbean has been turned. On the island, there was a waterfall. It was Tahiti Douche! Then we took the boat to Bequia. During the crossing, we've watched Pirates of the Caribbean. For dinner, we ate a good daurade! Yummy!

Fourth day:

This morning, we went to the flea market of Bequia. I bought 3 bracelets for my friends, an ankle bracelet and another bracelet for me. After that, we bathed on a white-sanded beach. We took the bathed (again!) and we discovered a bar. At night, the adults decided to go to the bar to drink pinacoladas. I took a Fruit Punch and it was delicious! For dinner, we sampled a coco chicken with rice. With Mum, we went on the trampoline to watch the stars. It was beautiful!

Fifth day:

This morning, we took a good breakfast (we'll need it!) and we visited a church on top of a hill. What a climbing! After that, we took the boat to Morpion and Punaise. On the way, François caught a big fish (which didn't drop off this time!). Funny Island, Morpion! A heap of sand with a parasol in the middle! After visiting it, we anchored between Petit St Vincent which is in front of Petite Martinique. Over-there, I caught a sardine and we saw a spiky fish. For dinner, we ate a beef Colombo and potatoes. What a delight!

Sixth day:

This morning, we left Petit St Vincent and we travelled to Union. We went to the market and we bought postcards and Francois took some fruits and a salad. After that, we saw sleeping sharks and we fed them with my sardine. Then we took the boat to Petit Tabac. It's the island where Jack Sparrow drinks rum. Yo ho yo ho! But we couldn't find any. Only shells and crabs. After searching for rum, we took the catamaran and left for Tobago Cays. For dinner, we ate lamb legs and green beans. Yum yum!

PS: During the navigation, I took the bar. I couldn't go straight but it was fun!

Seventh day:

Today, to have fun, we took the breakfast on the beach. Coffee and toasted bread on barbecue! Then we took our flippers and snorkelled to see the sea tortoises. It was beautiful! It seemed like they were flying! After that, we climbed the mountains to see the iguanas. Big animals! Then we ate. When our bellies were full, we went back to snorkelling. The reef wasn't very colourful but there were thousands of fishes! Parrots, trumpets, knights, chests, maids, surgeons, etc...  In the evening, we had diner on the beach and we ate crayfish. Bon appétit!

Eighth day:

This morning, after breakfast, I went snorkelling with Dad, Mum and François. But I took Dad's snorkel and my gums were aching. After that, we played and dived from the boat. It was so funny! For lunch, we ate pizzas. Then a tortoise kept turning around the boat. We called her Totor and we made up a song so she takes her head out of the water and we could make a picture. After that, we left Tobago Cays for Bequia. A 4 hours crossing! For diner, escalope with pastas. Yum! For dessert, clafoutis! A feast!

Ninth day:

This morning, François woke up at 6am and turn the boat on. St Lucia, here we come! We took our breakfast while, near St Vincent. After that, we went back to our occupations. Dad drove a lot. When we arrived at St Lucia, more precisely at the Deux Pitons, we did some snorkelling and I saw a barracuda. Then, when we were on the brink, we saw a serpentine. After that, we left the Deux Pitons for Marigot Bay. Over-there, there was a bar to which you jumped directly from the boat (don't miss the platform or Plouf!). The adults ordered pinacoladas and a beer (like always). I had a "Diablo grenadine" and Titi, a glass of ice cubes. Strange choice! After that, we went back to the boat for diner. For diner, lombi prepared by François with rice. It was delicious!

Tenth day:

This morning, we had breakfast and we went to Rodney Bay for shopping. I bought a white dress, Mum bought a fuchsia T-shirt with "St Lucia" written on it surrounded by flowers, Dad bought a Bermuda short and Titi, a butterfly and a magnet. Mum also bought a postcard on which we'll write our greetings, a necklace for Floriane and a bottle of champagne for François. After that, we bathed and dived. At night, we made a "Bling-Bling" party (refer to ELLE magazine n'3250, 14th of April 2008) and we ate ham with pastas. A delight!

Eleventh day:

It's departure day! We packed the luggage, cleaned up the boat. We went shopping and I bought two swimsuits. At noon, we ate at the restaurant "Ti Toque" with Roland, François and Floriane. We met Vanilla, the Labrador of Floriane and François. And now, we're off. It was a super cruise, with a super crew, a super organiser and I'll never forget it!
